Founders Message:

The East Coast Breeders Group was founded in December of 2006 by several breeders located in the eastern United States with the goal of purchasing larger advertising space for their horses by combining their advertising funds. By joining together in this advertising venture, several Founding Members were able to secure a much larger ad space at a reduced cost. This maximum exposure with reduced cost is exactly what the ECBG is all about!

While the first ad was published in a Stallion Issue, the future of the ECBG lies within the Breeders, Trainers, horse Owners and the prospective buyers located in the Eastern US and Canada. In the future, the ECBG plans to continue to advertise in this way and gain access to publications with larger circulation. The increased exposure for our Members should result in additional sales, breedings and training opportunities.

The ECBG would like to encourage our members to add one another to their individual websites, report show successes, submit offspring photographs to us and support one another in a cooperative, sincere manner. As we are a very young organization, we are trying to build a group of equine enthusiasts from the smallest horse (or pony) owner with just one equine to those with multiple equine dependants to encourage a broad base of support and camaraderie. It is our hope that this network will allow a potential buyer to make arrangements to view several possible prospects in a single shopping adventure in a localized area. While we are not specifically aligned to a single Breed or Breed Registry, we encourage our members to support one another’s breeding beliefs in a respectful manner – i.e. a ‘live and let live’ philosophy.

The ECBG has plans underway to offer educational seminars and round table discussions on breeding trends, a listing of sport results, and information about our own successful horses. While the East Coast of the United States may appear to be a small area, those who breed horses are often in need of a support system that bridges state boundaries, competitive disciplines, and breed type. With the assistance of one another, hopefully our network will grow and we can market our fine horses (and ponies) at a lesser cost to the horse owner.

The ECBG would like to incorporate a listing of support staff local to each state, whether it is Trainers, Veterinary, Farrier, Equine Dentistry or other equine related service (manure hauling, farm sitters, fencing, barn design, equine transport, hay/straw sales, arena maintenance and construction, taxes, book keeping, etc.) There is a large equine population located in our area and the ECBG hopes to allow our members to advertising for their various services to a broad range of possible clients in numerous publications (as well as our online listings).

Some of you might notice that we sound similar to other breeder groups out there. While there may be some similarities - there are several differences that make us unique. First- our geographical area assists prospective buyers in a more efficient manner who may not be able to take the time to go on a shopping trip that goes across US from coast to coast. The ECBG can help strategically assist in a more effectively, targeted within a more densely, mapped out area. Second, our network will incorporate more than just breeders. Access to trainers, coaches and equine support staff is a much needed resource and the ECBG hopes to provide these much needed resources to all of our members. In the future, it is the hope of the ECBG that other regional organizations such as ours can work combine efforts in marketing US Bred Equines and represent our country through competition, breeding successes and enviable representation.

In closing, the origin of the ECBG lies within the rising cost of advertising and the cost of living and several breeders joining together to secure a larger ad space than they could as individuals. Our network may appear to be small at this moment, but there is an easy way for it to grow – fill out a membership form and join us! Our Classified section is growing and several horses have already been sold. We hope that the New Year and Holiday Season are safe, healthy and a time of joy for everyone.

Best Wishes,

Ellie Rawle & Tawna King
